Publications intended for male audiences have been gaining new ground here in Asie. With Vogue Hommes Japan making a major splash with its debut issue this Septembre, it could only mean one thing: a new magazine to add to my. What makes things more is that Nicola Formichetti is the publication’s fashion director. And I myself have become a really big fan of his work for Dazed & Confused. The days to follow could only get more interesting.

(I seriously would do anything to be Nicola’s assistant even just for a day. I just want to know how this guy does it. He never seems to run out of ideas and each time, it’s bound to be visual orgasm. He’s surely one of the best stylists out there and with him, men’s fashion will continue to be progressive and lose its inhibitions. Again, with individuals like Nicola menswear is never bound to be BORING! Vive Nicola!)
In line with that, L’Officiel Hommes now has a Singapour version. Although I’ve heard previously that there is a Middle East version long before the Singapour one came about. My only worry though with Middle Eastern publications is that inevitably there are still some limitations to these magazines and they do not necessarily deal with issues that tickle the imagination of a problem child. I pretty much like the constant parade of the problematic and the orgasm of worldly things. It sustains me pretty well. Alors, here’s an editorial from the said magazine.

With Vogue Hommes Japan and L’Officiel Hommes Singapour, I do hope this marks the start of publications that really focus on men’s fashion on this side of the globe. I’ve seemingly taken a favour of men’s publications like Numéro Homme, L’Officiel Hommes, AnOtherMan, 10 Men, etc. as these publications aren’t the overly structured likes of Arena, GQ, and FHM. As I’d like to say AnOtherMan is a sensible man’s lifestyle read where as GQ may enable him to get a hold of his good looks but he can and only will be burdened with gender norms and that dreadful concept of machismo. As in the Western World, there are far too many men’s fashion magazines emerging left and right it is somewhat getting hard to take note of every single one. Et alors, What I seemingly am curious to see is an Asian version of is France’s Upstreet magazine and Numéro Homme which is rather more likely to happen as a Japanese franchise of the women’s fashion publication already exists with Numéro Tokyo. For now, I know that Vogue Hommes Japan is a must have this season and may I get myself a copy ASAP! I need to have it!
P.S. Tu sais quoi, If only there was Kinokuniya here in poor Manille, I really wouldn’t be worrying and dreading where am I supposed to obtain a copy from!!! haha

'Visual Orgasm'! you said it. STRIKING with all capital letters.
